Mentees: Have you set some goals?

By now you and your mentor should have introduced yourselves and got to know each other a little. Now it's time to work out what you'd like to get out of being mentored.

To help you and your mentor get the most out of ementoring, you need to set yourself some goals that they can help you with; one of the keys to being successful is deciding what you want in the first place.

Explain to your mentor what you’d like to accomplish over the next year. These goals could be anything from getting a part-time job or finding work experience to getting in to university.

Try to make your goals tough but realistic and then ask for your mentor’s help in creating an action plan, which will involve breaking down your ultimate ambition into small achievable steps that you can work on each week or month.

i have'nt got a mentor, i've tried sending a message but it will not allow me to add anyone to the conversation. :/

Its great having a mentor because all the simple questions about all the experiences and 'what to expect' can be answered for you so you know- otherwise how would you find out ? My mentor is great and we can chat about lots of little things that are not medicine related and its really good !

Me and my mentor have alot in common and hes been a real help. The e-mentoring is brilliant I can tell my mentor pretty much anythng and he always asks how im getting on.
