Emergency! Is there an engineer on board?

AeroplaneA passenger on board a Thomas Cook flight stepped forward to fix an engineering fault.

Travellers were facing an 8-hour delay on their flight home from Menorca, when they were saved by a fellow passenger.

Having been told they’d have to wait for a technician to be flown out from the UK, passengers were relieved when a qualified engineer returning from his holiday offered to fix the mechanical fault.

The Boeing 757 was back in shape soon after, and the flight landed in Glasgow only 35 minutes late.

Thomas Cook has stated that while it is rare for passengers to help fix the planes, it does not go against any codes of practice. The good Samaritan engineer happened to work for a company who had a maintenance agreement with Thomas Cook.
